Jen Philp
“One Connection supports me in my role as client support manager. It’s more than that though, they support me to be my very best, not just at work, but to be the best mum, the best partner, and the best friend that I can possibly be”.

Jen’s role at One Connection is truly unique and is rather unseen within the disability industry. Her official title is “Client Support Manager” but her actual tasks and responsibilities extend much further than that.
Jen is responsible for getting members of our local community, who are eligible, onto an NDIS plan that suits their needs and objectives. So often plans are denied by the NDIA, simply due to a few bits of key information that is often missing in the application process. Jen bridges this gap in this increasingly sensitive process and gets services to those who need them.
In just over a year, Jen has met with over 100 clients for One Connection and continues to fill her calendar day-by-day as more future potential members of the OC family ask for her help.
It was no hard task to identify why Bear and Dal saw Jen as a perfect fit for this role within OC. Jen has previous experience with the NDIS as a Local Area Coordinator for the Armidale region, and maintains a strong commitment to her local community. A local through and through.
“My previous role helped me gain an understanding of exactly who needs the most assistance. A lot of these regional and remote communities simply just don’t have the access to the services they need. One Connection will help me tear down that barrier, and open up the world of opportunities for a lot of people who didn’t even know they had it”.
What helped you get into the NDIS program in the first place?
“Well, I was only casually seeking another position, then I saw the job advertisement for an NDIS LAC (Local Area Coordinator). Having no experience in the industry as such, I wrote it off. Then I saw they were providing a free lunch for those they applied. Not only did I get a free lunch that day, but I kickstarted my career in a whole new industry!" Don’t ever let anyone tell you there is no such thing as a free lunch.
Jen hopes for her future with One Connection that she can grow her team and start branching her services to further regions within regional NSW. It really is all about getting people the help they need, and often enough it’s not always NDIS related. This does not deter Jen and her team, at the end of the day these barriers we operate under each and every day simply should not exist.
For herself, Jen hopes to be a leading source of information within the industry. Having that knowledge allows her to assist others in similar positions in Australia, and better utilise the opportunities the NDIS provides for us.
After discussing what personal interests Jen has, and without including her work in that category, it’s hockey for the ESC Hockey club on the weekends, and her family every minute she has free after that. For Jen, family is the most important thing in her world, and it’s honestly a privilege to be included in her extended family at One Connection.
“ I really love working with One Connection. We are like a big family all working together, and the culture of this place is so positive. Honestly, second to none”
